An evening of history and more

posted 23 Oct 2019, 13:05 by John Ferguson
Only one more weekend of sailing left this season withtwo days of fun sailing, weather permitting of course. We have lost quite a few planned days this year mostly to lack of wind so if you want a last sail, look sharp.
There is always the winter racing at RTYC if you have anti-freeze in your veins of course, noon start every Sunday till early December and the Boxing Day Bash.
The club was entertained to a very interesting talk on Perth Harbour, past, present and future, given by the soon to be leaving Harbourmaster John Taylor. Few of us knew that records date from the 1700s and that Perth was once a centre of shipbuilding. (long before Melville Marine built a few Enterprises around 1960)
A lively question and answer session followed and the new team in the harbour office were introduced to us.
We would like to thank Mr Taylor for explaining all this and wish him all the best for his new appointment in Alderney
