March 15-16, 2013

The One Health Symposium will provide a unique learning environment for Penn students which focuses on communication, critical problem solving, and interdisciplinary collaboration. Teams from various health and science graduate schools at Penn will work together to respond to an emerging infectious disease outbreak. This experience will simulate the actual problems and questions that health care professionals, government officials, and experts in various fields must face when a novel disease emerges. Participants will gain valuable skills in communication and critical thinking, insight into different healthcare professions, an understanding of the interconnectedness of human, animal, and environmental well-being, and an appreciation for the need for interdisciplinary collaboration and communication to promote global health and progress.
