Recorder Karate

As part of the district's music curriculum, we will be learning to play the soprano recorder in music class.  If you have one at home there is no need to buy one.  The price is $5.00 if you purchase a recorder from school, which comes with a storage case, cleaning rod, and a neck strap.  Please send a check made out to Pearsontown Elementary, or send exact change to Ms. Wright.

I will be keeping the recorders in my classroom this year.  This will ensure that your child will have his/her recorder for every class.  Recorders will be sent home at the end of the school year.  Students will perform in the spring.  Make sure you check back here for the date at time.

If your child wants to practice at home, you can find recorders at the dollar store.  Click on the link below to practice the Recorder Karate songs.  Just follow the directions on the site.  The username is Karate.  The password will be written on my white board in the music classroom.

What is Recorder Karate?
Students will be taught how to play the songs that are listed below in music class, starting with the white belt song, Hot Cross Buns,  and progressing to a more difficult song, Ode to Joy.  Students will earn a belt for their recorders when they have played the song successfully.  Students will also get to sign the posters on the wall outside the music room.
