About Me

My name is Sharon Loughlin and I am an integrative counsellor offering individual counselling from my home in Ellesmere Port or from my counselling rooms in Chester. I am therefore easily accessible for clients living or working in Great Sutton, Little Sutton, Whitby, Wirral, Liverpool, Chester and North Wales.

I am a member of the BACP and I have worked in the health service for many years and chose to retrain as a counsellor after realising that people valued my ability to listen in a caring and non-judgemental way. This, combined with my own personal experiences in life led me to understand just how empowering counselling can be. I believe that mental and physical health are interlinked and that one can affect the other. To me looking after our mental health is as important as looking after ourselves physically.

My counselling practice is underpinned by a person-centred approach however I am trained in psychodynamic theory and cognitive behavioural therapy and use a combination of all three approaches to suit each client’s individual needs.

I have been described as a warm and approachable counsellor, putting clients at ease. I have worked with a variety of clients experiencing a number of issues including anxiety, depression, trauma, bereavement, relationship difficulties and stress. I offer both short term and long term therapy.
