About Counselling

I appreciate how difficult it can be to take that first step and ask for help and I recognise this as a sign of strength. Counselling offers you a safe, confidential space where we can explore your concerns and any issues that are troubling you or causing you distress. It is a collaborative effort between you and me where I will help you to develop strategies to overcome any challenges you are currently facing.

Counselling can help you to identify the cause of emotional turmoil and can help you identify goals and potential solutions. Counselling can promote change, increase self esteem and reduce symptoms of anxiety and depression. It can help change long held beliefs, encourage self acceptance and improve relationships.

Common issues that people seek help for include loss, grief, eating disorders, suicidal thoughts, sexual abuse or lack of self esteem and self confidence. However I understand that no two people are affected in the same way and I am flexible in my approach as what works for one person may not work for another. We are all individual and unique.

The kind of issues I work with include -

Anxiety, Depression, Stress, Anger, Bereavement, Trauma/PTSD, Panic attacks, Low self esteem/self confidence, Eating disorders, Abuse, Relationship issues, Addiction, OCD

I offer an initial, introductory consultation which gives you the opportunity to meet me and to establish whether you feel comfortable working with me. If you decide to go ahead we will agree a contract to work together. Counselling normally takes place once a week and I can offer appointments during the daytime or evening.
