Patriots Attend Reunion, Raise Money For Squads

More than 165 members of the Putnam City West Class of 1977 recently celebrated their 30th class reunion in Oklahoma City.

On Friday, July 6, the current PCW head football coach, John Jensen, and members of the current cheer squad met with 48 class members who participated in the golf tournament.

The golfers raised $600 for the football team and $600 for the cheer squad during tournament play. Athletic director and head football coach Jensen spoke to the golf group, and the cheer squad performed the Patriot fight song.

Other weekend events included a ladies’ luncheon at Mimi’s Café on Memorial Road and a buffet dinner with a disc jockey at Rocky’s Entertainment Center in Bricktown.

Members of the class gathered for group elementary school photos, sports teams and organization shots during the evening.

Former football coach Mike Little attended the Friday evening event and visited with more than a dozen of the members of the state runner-up football team from 1976.

On Saturday evening, the class gathered at the Sheraton in downtown Oklahoma City for dinner and dancing. Music was provided by class member, Rick Ayling’s band, Rock Island.

Class member Randel George served as emcee and gave a historical perspective of life in 1977 and thanked reunion steering committee co-chairs Marcia Moon Feisal, Bethany, and Andy Eng, Houston, with gift certificates from the class.
