Sexual and Reproductive Health

Carry out activities to teach about safe sex practices, abstinence, how to be faithful, condoms, delaying sex, understanding puberty, teen pregnancy prevention activities; and STI and HIV/AIDS prevention activities through health education hour, camps, clubs, after school groups, free hour during school.

Effective sex education is largely absent from Thai schools. When it is addressed, the approach is often cursory and insufficient. Information about reproductive health is often presented in a lecture format, rather than as a dialogue which enables students to develop their own ideas and make wise choices. As such, many volunteers have found sex education to be an area where they can contribute. Promoting the importance of condom use, raising awareness about common STDs, providing a forum where students can consider their future and what they want out of sexual relationships-all these are goals of a successful sexual education program.

Attached below are a variety of materials, some of which include schedules and project summaries in Thai. Volunteers who observe a demonstrated need at their sites to educate youth about the importance of making wise sexual choices should take a look!
