What an extraordinary day for the WolfPack. It was so impressive to see all the blue and gold on display at Cooper Cup, both on and off the water. Before I even get into the rowers performance, I have to give a huge shout out to the team that ran our hospitality tent! What an extraordinary job you all did, thank you, thank you, thank you. Catering off site for an army of 200+ takes tremendous planning and co-ordination, weeks and days before the event, and is a gargantuan task on the day. Well done to Claire, Robin and Team. The parent turnout was fantastic and I could hear the PCRA cheering section from the launching docks.
Rowers were fantastic! I was really pleased with the team approach to trailer loading, unloading and loading; boats taking responsibility for their de-rigging after the last race, composure and behavior and of course effort out on the water! We had some exceptional results which I will cover in a separate post, but I wanted to congratulate all the novice rowers who raced their first race on Sunday. 2000m is a long way for novice boats, and the tail wind actually makes it very difficult to set the boat up. In addition, most teams' novice boats that we raced against started in the Fall of 2011 and as such I was very pleased indeed with their results.
Finally, a huge thank you to my coaching team. It was a fantastic display of co-ordination and dedication, crews were coming and going like clock work, repairs and adjustments made on the spot, all with a minimum of fuss. Our youth are incredibly lucky to have such a talented and dedicated team of coaches, as am I.
