From 2012 to 2015, PCC at UPLB managed to attain its annual AI target efficiently. It had accomplished 34, 275 or 118.5% from the 29,000 AI services target for 4 consectuive years. The accomplishment was attained through strengthening its AI program partnership and collaboration with the Local Government Unit to encourage the farmers to upgrade their carabaos towards enterprise development. In partnership with the Local Government Unit and Village-based AI Technicians in CALABARZON, MIMAROPA and BICOL Region, the center implements the carabao upgrading program strategically. Some of the strategies made by the center are as follows: The Pareto Principle wherein selected areas with high population of breedable female carabao and with high acceptance of the AI Program from the farmers has been considered for the recruitment of AI Technician and planning for the conduct of ES-AI activity. The active involvement and proper communication with the local, provincial and regional partners in the Carabao Upgrading Program prior to the conduct of estrus synchronization, and tapping the VBAIT to perform the artificial insemination for the animals injected with hormone. The center also held an orientation entitled Programa at Negosyo ng Gatasang Kalabaw through ES-AI, a week before the scheduled activity. The active distribution of PCC IEC materials such as komiks, leaflets, and newsletters to disseminate information on Artificial Insemination. Also, PCC at UPLB provided a logistic assistance to AI Technicians like regular distribution of LN2, frozen semen and AI supplies, Cash CD incentives, training sessions, seminars and market assistance. There had also been regular communication between AI technicians, partners (local, provincial & regional) and other stakeholders/keyplayers to strengthen the relationship. Moreover, the center in collaboration with the DA-Regional Field Office in IV-A, B & V had been organizing Regional AI Congress, AI Summit and AI Forum annually. PCC at UPLB does not stop there, the center is continuously conducting program monitoring to further evaluate and identify veracious strategies to be done towards the attainment of the target for both the center and the farmers’ benefit.
