We have negotiated rooms with two hotels. They are one block apart and both near the gates of Chinatown. The Grant Plaza Hotel is the more economical, with cozy rooms and nice views. The rates are: $85 for a double, $103 for a Queen. The chic Hotel Triton offers queen room @$99.00/night, king room @ $109.00/night, two double beds @$109.00/night. lt also offers free wi-fi and an open wine bar from 5:00 pm to 6:00 pm. Warm cookies at 3:00 pm. These prices do not include taxes.

We'll screen Once in Afghanistan, a new documentary by RPCV Jill Vickers about volunteers who served as female members of Afghan smallpox vaccination teams in the late 1960s. This video features interviews with these RPCVs and photos of their Afghan counterparts and the people in the villages. Patty Mittendorff, who served on a vaccination team and was interviewed in the documentary, will join us for this screening and be available to answer questions.

Wine country bus tour of Napa Valley.:
A hike over coastal bluffs and across a suspension bridge to the Point Bonita Lighthouse. We'll leave from the Triton Hotel about 10:00 am and return to the hotels around 2:00 pm. Plenty of time to rest and freshen up before the party.
Reunion Banquet. Party begins at 6:00 PM. Location: 6039 Radcliffe Ave., Newark, CA 94560. Our hosts are Mustafa (Mo) Musuf and his wife Nasrin. An Afghan memani with music performed by traditional Afghan musicians and featuring traditional Afghan dishes.
Also attended will be members of the Afghan immigrant community in Northern California. Don't miss this chance to practice your Farsi!. Visit with Dr. D. Johnson, who nursed many PC volunteers back to health and delivered several babies as the Peace Corps Afghanistan physician.

The cost of participating in the events is only $80 per person. That includes the bus transportation for the wine tour, and the reunion banquet. Any money left over after the reunion expenses will be donated to an Afghan charity.
