Welcome To The Parkersburg Elementary Library Website

My name is Mrs. Nancy Flanigan and I am the Teacher Librarian at Parkersburg Elementary.  I teach 2nd through 4th grade media classes.  I also read
to the Preschool and Kaleidoscope Classes.  I love reading to the students and motivating them to read.  It's fun to see their eyes widen and get bigger
when they've found and read a book they love.  In short, I teach 2nd graders how to locate a find books in the library and I help them find a good AR book to read.  I teach the 3rd graders how to use the library by looking up books on the online catalog system called Alexandria.  I also teach them how to locate books in the everybody and fiction area.  I teach 4th graders how to use the Dewey section of the library; use encyclopedias and write reports about non-fiction topics.   I love helping students pick out books to read that interest them.  I work in 3 buildings in the Aplington Parkersburg School District so I am only at Parkersburg Elementary on Days 3 and 6.

Mrs. Manifold is the library associate.  She is available on a daily basis from 8:00 a.m. - 3:15 p.m.  Diane conducts storytime for preschool, kindergartners and first graders.  Diane  helps students locate and check out books.  She is very helpful to students who are trying to find AR Books.  This keeps her very busy.  Diane loves helping students find just the right book.  Diane has been working in the library for 23 years.  She is very resourceful and helpful not only to me, but to the other library associates in the district and to all of our students.  She is invaluable to this library.
