Course Description:

This presentation will cover an overview of Special Needs and Hospital Dentistry. Access to Care issues facing the special needs population will be discussed as well as minimal oral sedation techniques and other adjuncts which can aid in the dental treatment of some patients with special needs.

Learning Objectives:

  • Recognize the Access to Dental Care Issues facing the special needs population.
  • Understand the Levels of Sedation, Routes of Administration, and the training required or each, in accordance with the Florida Dental Practice Act
  • Become familiar with patient ASA status classification, and if a patient is a candidate for in-office sedation.
  • Become re-familiarized with oral minimal sedation techniques that may be used, in accordance with the Florida Dental Practice A
