President's Message

Welcome to the Palm Beach County Dental Hygiene Association (PBCDHA) website. This website was created by two key association members: Marilee McGaughey and Therese Stewart, to help provide information for our community initiatives, announce upcoming events in continued education and facilitate unity in our professional focuses and values.

As our website mission statement states:

Elevating dental hygienists to new heights by serving the public to promote oral health for overall health.

If you are a dental hygienist, we all connect because hygiene is our passion; however, to encourage others to join us in our vision and mission, we must lead by example and work as a team in our community initiatives and advancements for our profession.

PBCDHA is a component of the American Dental Hygiene Association (ADHA) and the Florida Dental Hygiene Association (FDHA). By being a part of this association, you are involved in sharing the vision, values and mission of furthering our profession. It is important to be apprised of our state’s activities and overall dental hygiene profession as a whole. This website provides links that can keep you connected, informed and involved.

This 2014-2015 year, the focus in our local component is to continue promote unity, support and further expand membership. We can make this happen by sharing the passion in our profession, being transparent and encouraging and mentoring other dental hygiene “sisters and brothers” in why we love, exercise and promote what we do. Being a part of the association is a way to unite, communicate and encourage each other; and never underestimate the “power of numbers”. It is so important to be a part in moving our profession forward to reach greater heights of professional accomplishments. Look at what we have accomplished in the last few years, with the passing of Local Anesthesia and other health care opportunties in Public Health!

Believing there are lots more to come, YOU are important and YOU can help dental hygienists make a difference by being a part in our profession on many different levels! It is really easy; be a committee leader in an area you are interested in; be a local component board member; be a delegate; get involved in governmental affairs (COGA); be a part of your local coalition or simply be a “great dental hygienist”. Anything you choose to do, just do your best and that is all we can ask of ourselves. Just remember that we are here for each and every one of you! We have a great support team and we are willing to mentor anyone that shows an interest in “rising above and beyond” their call of duty in the dental health care profession.

We hope that you come and join us for our posted CEU events this year. No one is small or insignificant in the dental hygiene profession; I believe each and every one of you has special gifts that can make a difference in our dental hygiene endeavor. Make the choice to take your gifts a step further by sharing them and joining our forces in making a difference in our profession, community and individuals that we serve.

We are here for you dental hygienists, please feel free to call or e-mail if you have any questions or concerns.

Sincerely,

Cindy Clements, CDA, RDH, MS
