Otters have a new home at Paxton Pits Nature Reserve thanks to work by volunteers from The Friends of Paxton Pits Nature Reserve and from RWE npower.

Pits volunteers rewarded for reserve success

Two volunteers at Paxton Pits have been recognised in the Community Life Awards, at a ceremony in which Little Paxton was named Village of the Year, by Cambridgeshire ACRE.

New group for young wildlife enthusiasts
A new group for wildlife-keen youngsters is starting at Paxton Pits Nature Reserve. The RSPB and The Wildlife Trust for Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Northamptonshire are setting up a joint Wildlife Explorers and Wildlife Watch Group. It will meet regularly at the Reserve and provide a wide range of activities to excite youngsters with the wonders of wildlife.

Families find fun in the wild

A day of family wildlife activities was enjoyed by over 600 visitors to Paxton Pits Nature Reserve Family Fun Day on Sunday 10th June. Organised by the Friends of Paxton Pits, this biennial event included all the children’s favourite attractions such as pond dipping, face painting, bug hunting, nestbox building, and horse and cart rides.

Friends Chairman recognised for volunteer effort

Huntingdonshire District Council recognised the voluntary efforts of the local community in a ceremony at St Neots' Priory Centre this month. Among the volunteers recognised was chairman of The Friends of Paxton Pits, Professor Ray Matthews.
