May 8, 2018

The Pawnee Amateur Radio Club held a meeting May 8th, 2018 at the Emergency Operations Center in Columbus Nebraska. Club president, Dave AC0TF, called the meeting to order at 7:00 pm. AC0TF read the minutes of the April 2018 club meeting. Club Treasurer, Ted K7CLP, gave a treasury report as of 5/8/2018. The treasurer report was approved as read.

Members Present – AC0TF, K7CLP, AC0DN, N0RHK, KE0AUP, KD0OBA

Old Business

Columbus Rotary Club Loup-de-loup bike ride Saturday, June 16th, 2018. Volunteers still neded (KD0RIZ, WD0AAH, AC0TF, K7CLP planning on working the event).

N0RHM discussed looking at a Point to Point Internet wireless connection between the Court House and the DStar tower site. This would replace the cellular modem (with its monthly charge) currently being used. K7CLP presented his findings. His recommendation is to use Ubiquity equipment on the 5 GHz frequency band. Tim N0RHM recommended using the tower on top of the Sheriff's office.

DStar - Reflector 002 status, KD0OBA report on conversation with NEMA. Reflector 002 is no longer under control by NEMA. All Nebraska DStar sites will no longer be permanently linked on 2 meters to Reflector 002. This will mean that all HAMs can now link and unlink the 2 meter side to any reflector on the DStar network. It also means that the bi-monthly Nebraska DStar net will now need to move to a different reflector. Adam and Gene will report back next month with an update.

Tim N0RHM offered ID badges to the PARC members. These can be used for ID and access to the EOC.

Suggestions for future club topics are:

HF gear and antennas - Adam KD0RIZ
