                               JESUP FIT KIDS -

If you don't take care of your body, where will you live?

If a child lives with criticism, he learns to condemn. ~~ If a child lives with hostility, he learns to fight. ~~                                                     If a child lives with ridicule, he learns to be shy. ~~ If a child lives with shame, he learns to feel guilty.

If a child lives with tolerance, he learns to be patient. ~~ If a child lives with encouragement, he learns confidence. ~~                               If a child lives with praise, he learns to appreciate. ~~ If a child lives with fairness, he learns justice. ~~                                                        If a child lives with security, he leans to have faith. ~~ If a child lives with approval, he learns to like himself. ~~                                          If a child lives with acceptance and friendship,m he learns to find love in the world.

"Reach for the moon! If you fall short, you may fall on a star."   Author unknown

My name is Pat Winblade.  I am very proud to say that the 2012-2013 school year is my 34th year of teaching and coaching for Jesup Community Schools.  I, my husband and two sons moved to Jesup from Lincoln, Nebraska in the summer of 1979.  I have taught physical education and health education at every grade level while on staff at Jesup.  I have also been fortunate enough to travel out to our three rural schools to share my teaching skills with the students at Perry #1, Prairie Grove, and Triumph.  This opportunity varies from year to year, depending upon my teaching schedule.
While at Jesup, I have coached basketball for 9 years, volleyball for 22 years, and golf for about 29 years (I think!!  I have lost track of years!).  Currently, I coach only girls' golf.  My basketball coaching experiences have been very good to me in that I have had opportunities to travel with select girls basketball teams to Moscow, Russia and Ireland.
I still have friends in Ireland, with whom I have visited and gotten to play golf on several very beautiful Irish golf courses.  My dreams are to go back to Ireland sometime to visit and I professionally aspire to teach over in Ireland for at least one summer.
I earned my Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Nebraska, Lincoln.  I earned my Masters in Education Degree in School Health Education from the University of Northern Iowa, Cedar Falls.  In 1993, Mike Sinram and I jointly received the "Governor's Award for Physical Fitness and Education".  In 1996 I received the "Iowa Teacher of the Year in Middle School Physical Education" award from the Iowa Association for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance.  In 2006, IAHPERD honored me with the "Distinguished Service" Award.  I served on the executive board as secretary for the Iowa Association for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance for seven years.
I have two sons, Matt and Mike.  They were 4 and 2 when we moved to Jesup.  They both graduated from Jesup Schools, attended an area university, and are now married and very busy building their own personal and professional lives.  I also have two adorable grandchildren, Garrett and Kylie.  I am always looking forward to when I can spend time with them.  They provide me tremendous joy!
I enjoy many activities, especially if they are outdoors.  I love water activities, cross country skiiing, snow shoeing, camping, hiking, biking, gardening, traveling, spending time with family and friends, attending sports events and learning new information and activities.   I really get charged seeing children and teens learning and enjoying themselves when engaged in activities.  I truly feel blessed to be able to spend my life doing what I love and believe in.
