Burke Lake District Pinewood Derby 2024

The (formerly known as) Patriot District Pinewood Derby was held on: Saturday, 2 March 2024

The entire District Derby team, along with the other folks setting up, helping and organizing, had an amazing day! 

This year, we had each and every Pack in the Patriot District send Scouts to compete! We literally had a packed hall again this year, family and friends, to watch our Scouts compete in both Speed and Show categories. 

We'd like to thank Living Savior Lutheran Church on Ox Road in Fairfax Station for once again letting us use their amazing social hall for our Derby each year for over a decade now and Pack 1101 at Nativity Catholic Church for letting Patriot District use their track and amazing timing system each year. 

We'd also like to recognize the amazing Patriot District Scouters that make up the Patriot District "Derby A-Team:" Pete Griffiths (District Derby Chair, Race Director, timing system engineer/nerd), Joe Margraf (Master of the Masters of Ceremony and Chief of Entertainment), Dan Lotz (Pack 698 Derby Chair and co-MC with Joe), Greg "Wags" Wagner (our official starter), Steve Smith (Pit Crew Boss), John Merchant and Bill Dexter (providers of coffee, donuts, pizza and a helping hand throughout the day), Pete's sons Max (start line sequencer and race manager) and Peter Griffiths, Jr. (registration), and the 17 Scouts that helped throughout the day with Judging of Show category, registration table, car movers, and pizza inhalers(no leftovers that day!).
