A big welcome to the lab to Julian Wittische (France) and Patricia Sanae Suji (Brasil)! Julian is starting a PhD on the landscape genomics of the mountain pine beetle outbreak system and Patricia is a visiting researcher who will be continuing with her work on spatial simulation and population genetics.
May 2nd, 2014 - Spruce Budworm Microbiome team grant funded! Our FRQNT Team Grant proposal to examine variation in the SBW microbiome and its influence on ecological interactions has been approved. Team members include Steve Kembel (UQAM; PI), Dan Kneeshaw (UQAM) and Patrick. Stay tuned for calls for grad students.
March 10th, 2014 - Spruce budworm early intervention research funding announced. This research will describe the dispersal capacity of the SBW using next-generation sequencing and landscape genetics.
March 4th, 2014 - NIMBIOS Meeting
Patrick met with Vlasitimil Kirvan, Elise Filotas, and Anupam Priyadarshi in Knoxville, Tennessee to work modelling relationships between forest diversity and SBW population dynamics. Details here.
