Growing up in 1960's rural South Carolina - the oldest of six whose father was the only pharmacist and often the mayor, his mom his first piano teacher - Patrick graduated from the University of South Carolina with a degree in piano and music theory and composition. Seeking a somewhat different environment, he moved to Texas in the early 1980's. For years he taught at the San Antonio Academy of Music and performed in the great hotels along the River Walk. Upon moving to Austin Patrick co-founded 3 Muses School of Fine Arts, an artist's teaching cooperative where he had 55 weekly students. He also played the local jazz clubs.

Patrick and Miriam relocated to the beautiful mountains of Asheville, NC in 2002 with their dog Ginger and 2 cats, Gabby and Dulce. Patrick happily teaches and composes in his studio overlooking the Swannanoa River and occasionally performs in the area.

One of his main focuses today is co-writing with his wife the children's audio adventure series, "Adventures in Sonoris."
