The installation is set in 1985 created in Patricia's studio by prop-maker Maria Shrigley Breeding Pigeon Installation- Concept by Artist Patricia Shrigley Inspiration taken from Feral Estate an upcoming stop motion animation. Exploring
the Media and Governments misrepresentation of the so-called disenfranchised,
dispossessed and much maligned under-class. These attitudes help further social
divisions; terminology such as feral youth and breeding underclass are damaging
and it has been shown that stereotypes directly affect people's sense of
self. For example Lord Flight raised his concerns that benefit cuts will
"encourage the poor to breed like pigeons" at a Conservative
conference. ![]() ![]() |
