Primitive (CR +1)

Creating a Primitive Creature

"Primitive" is an inherited template that can be added to any living, corporeal, intelligent creature (referred to hereafter as the base creature). A primitive creature uses all the base creature's statistics and special abilities except as noted here.

CR: Same as the base creature +1.

Senses: A primitive creature gains low-light vision and scent.

Armor Class: The natural armor bonus improves by +2 over that of the base creature.

Mammoth CR 8

Attack: The primitive creature retains all the base creature's attacks, and its weapon and armor proficiencies. These attacks retain the same primary or secondary status they had for the base creature. The primitive creature gains a primary slam attack if it has no other natural attacks.

Damage: If the primitive creature gained a slam attack from the application of this template, the base damage is as given on the following table.

Size Slam Base Damage
Fine 1
Diminutive 1d2
Tiny 1d3
Small 1d4
Medium 1d6
Large 1d8
Huge 2d6
Gargantuan 2d8
Colossal 4d6

Abilities: Change from the base creature as follows: Str + 4, Con +4, Int -4 (minimum 1), Cha -2 (minimum 1).

Feats: A primitive creature gains Great Fortitude, Skill Focus : Perception, and Toughness as bonus feats if the creature did not already have them.

Skills: Calculate skill points for racial HD as normal version of the creature. Class skills for a primitive creature are Climb, Perception, Stealth, and Survival. A primitive creature maintains any racial bonuses to skills. In addition, the primitive creature has a +4 racial bonus to Stealth and Survival skills. The primitive creature calculates and gains skill points from class levels normally.
