During Combat A zhyen prefers to avoid attacks with the total defense action, but if cornered it attacks until it can flee.

Morale Unused to combat, and generally unprepared for it, a zhyen attempts to flee when reduced to half of its hit points or less.

Editor's Note

The stats of this monster as presented in the source material had many problems, thus it was adjusted to appear more in line with monster guidelines. The monster presented here has been modified in the following ways:

  • hp changed from 9 (2d8) to 5 (1d10)
  • CMB changed from -3 to +1 (tiny and smaller use Dex for CMB)
  • Fly skill changed from +6 to +14 (0ranks+2dex+8maneuv+4size)
  • Knowledge (arcana) and Spellcraft added as theme-specific class skills
  • Swim skill modified to account for water zhyen
  • Languages modified to match zhyen's elemental nature
