White Rose Sugar Art Virtual Competition

Divisions
A. Youth- age 17 and under
B. Adult Amateur- includes beginner, intermediate and advanced levels.
Criteria: Anyone who has taken less than 75 hours of sugar art classes, creates cakes as a hobby, or has less than three years commercial bakery experience.
C. Adult Professional- includes semi-professional, professional and master levels.
Criteria: Anyone who has taken 75 or more hours of sugar art classes, creates cakes for sale as a part or full time business, has more than three years commercial bakery experience, teaches sugar art classes, is an ICES Certified Sugar Artist or Certified Master Sugar Artist, or is an ACF Certified Executive Pastry Chef.
RULES AND REGULATIONS
1. There is no entry fee.
2. The competition is open to all sugar artists. The displays must be the sole work of the individual entering, except children under 8 who may have help baking, making icing, and covering the board.
3. Members of PA ICES and the White Rose Cake Decorators may be submitting entries.
4. You may enter only one division, and no more than three entries of cakes, cupcakes (6 or more in photo) or cookies (6 or more in photo) or any combination of these.
5. Cake dummies may be used, but the entry must be designed so that it could be made of real cake.
6. Sculpted entries must be done in real cake and be altered at least 25% from normal shaped pans. Three (3) “in progress” photos showing the cake and structure must accompany the entry. Simple carving such as bevels, waistlines, and tapered tiers are not considered sculpted and may be Styrofoam.
7. Purchased ready-made decorations may not be used. The use of plastic is discouraged, and carries no value in judging. Cold porcelain will not be allowed.
8. Only products considered for use as edible food by the FDA are permitted on cakes. “Non-toxic” products i.e. disco dust, glues, etc. may only be used on
decorations that can be removed before cake is consumed. Hot glue is not permitted.
9. No advertising, business cards, water marks, matrix codes or political messages may be included on the displays.
10. No copyrighted or trademarked characters, logos or likenesses of any kind are allowed.
11. Discriminatory, pornographic, or entries done in poor taste, will be disqualified.
12. Entries with lights are allowed. Special backdrops and table coverings are
allowed. Cake stands, separators, and display stands (such as easels and support
structures) are permitted.
13. Only creations made since November 8, 2020 may be entered.
14. No showpieces will be judged, i.e. chocolate, pulled and blown sugar, or pastillage. These mediums may be used as decorations on cake, cupcake or cookie entries.
15. Best of show and first place winners from other shows may not be entered.
16. Complete the entry form and submit one photo of your entry as a jpeg. attachment (except for sculpted entries, see rule #7) to SheilasCakery@comcast.net. Photos must be received by Monday, November 15, 2021 at 11:59 p.m. EST.
17. Entries will be judged on: use of the theme, workmanship, originality, color
composition, and artistic appearance.
18. This competition will follow ICES Certified Judging Standards.
19. Highly qualified decorators will judge, and their decisions will be final.
20. Entry photos may be used by the show committee for promotional purposes.
21. The best entry in each division will be receive $100.00. No other prizes will be awarded.
22. The winners will be notified by email no later than November 30, 2021. They
must submit a mailing address within five days to receive their prizes. Winners
will be posted on White Rose Cake Decorators and PA ICES social media.
23. All taxes on any prize(s) won are the sole responsibility of each winner, including, without limitation, any federal, state, or local taxes which may be deemed applicable in such winner’s jurisdiction of residence.

Please include your name, division, age (if youth), title of your piece and description. Include one good quality photo of your piece with your entry. If submitting a sculpted work, you MUST include 3 process photos. You may include additional detail photos with your entry.
ALL FILES MUST INCLUDE YOUR NAME (j.smith.cupcakes.ipeg).
They must be jpeg files and not exceed 10MG.
