The March 5th Fundraiser was a success, raising $10,000 for earthquake relief on the Asian Subcontinent

March Fundraiser for South Asian Earthquake Relief
Celebrate spring wiith a spectacular evening of dance and music at the Strong Auditorium (University of Rochester) March 5, 2006 at 5:00 pm. This event will be a fundraiser for South Asian Earthquake Relief. All ticket sales and donations will go to UNICEF to help with relief work in the region (near the Pakistan-India border).

The show will be brought to you by the Pakistani American Society of Rochester (PASOR) and by the Association for the Development of Interest in the Indian Subcontinent (ADITI). Vastly diverse and culturally rich, this 2-hour spring celebration will bring together many Rochester communities. Performers will include the Garth Fagan Dance School, the Eastman School of Music, Arco Iris Mexicano, Bharata Dance, the Chinese Dance Academy of Rochester, the Families with Children from China Dance Group, Geneseo Bhangra, Greater Rochester Korean American Association, the Indian Community Center of Rochester, Indonesian Dance of Rochester, a Japanese Music Trio, the Pakistani American Society of Rochester, the Puerto Rican Dance Company and the University of Rochester Bhangra.

Tickets will be: $12 general, $7 for kids/students, $6 for UR students and $35 for a family of five. Tickets are nominally priced and donations will be appreciated. UNICEF has estimated a need for $20 million to help earthquake victims. More than 79,000 people have died and millions have been left homeless. Half of the 4 million people affected are under 18 years of age. Many have started dying of hypothermia in below zero temperatures. This is a great opportunity to come together as a community and help with a great cause. Hope to see you there!

Tickets are available at Wegmans, Parkleigh, Thali of India, Pakistan House, Desi Bazaar, and India Market.
