Partial Differential Equations : PMA206

School of Mathematics, Thapar Institute of Engineering & Technology, Patiala

Spring 2020

The mathematical sciences particularly exhibit order, symmetry, and limitation; and these are the greatest forms of the beautiful.~Aristotle.

Course Description

Partial Differential Equations (PDEs) is a one semester, upper-level module that emphasizes the mathematics used to study the partial differential equations. PDEs are at the heart of applied mathematics and many other scientific disciplines. The primary goal of this course is to provide students the knowledge about fundamental concepts of PDE theory and analytical methods for solving PDEs. Students will become knowledgeable about PDEs and how they can serve as models for physical processes such as Laplace, wave, and transport equation including diffusion. The course will also develop an understanding of the elements of analysis of PDEs. The course credit are 3.5 (3 Lectures and 1 Tutorial). The details are given in the Course Policies.
