New John Lintott: “Brief Glimpses”

“My love for the outdoors has brought me to a lifelong obsession with seeking out new places to paint. I have been painting for 30 years, but in the last 4 or 5 years, I have become inspired more and more by how light hits different environments in the western and southwestern United States. The effect that light has on an area is fascinating to me. Depending on time of day or time of year, it is amazing that the same place can look so different.
I have found that the more I focus on light in my work, the more my ability to describe different scenes becomes a pure lesson in color and value. This is a lesson that I intend to explore in order to further my understanding of the natural world around me, the capabilities of my materials, and the limits of my abilities. With these lessons, I feel like every day I paint is like my first time painting, and I’m able to retain a deep passion and curiosity of what the possibilities are.”
John Lintott lives in Grand Junction, Colorado, with his wife Emily and their three daughters.
