General Information Sheet

1.     ABOUT ME

My name is Sarah Parke, I taught Kindergarten for 5 years, before starting a preschool in my home.. This will be my 12th year as a preschool teacher.  I love teaching and I am excited to have your child in my preschool.  My goal is to prepare your child academically, socially, emotionally, and physically for kindergarten.  We do many hands on learning activities.  I teach many pre-reading skills throughout the year to help prepare your child to read.  I work with children in small groups and individually in order to focus on each child’s needs.  I follow the new state preschool guidelines, and I know what is expected of your child before entering Kindergarten.

•  Registration & Schedule:  A registration fee of $45 is due upon enrollment and is non-refundable.  The registration fee covers the cost of registration and field trips.

•  The 3-5 year olds class is $80 a month.   Child must be 3 by Sept. 1st

Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, 12:30-3:00 PM

•  Tuition:  Tuition is due the first day preschool is held each month, regardless of whether your child is at school. A $5 late fee will be added if paid after the first day of class unless prior arrangements have been made.

•  There is a $25 fee for return checks.

•  If tuition is not paid, your child will not be allowed to attend preschool until tuition is paid in full.

• There is a late pick-up fee if a child is picked up more than 10 minutes late. It is important that children arrive no more than 5 minutes early and are picked up on time.  If you are going to be late picking your child up, please call.

Checks:  Checks for the cost of tuition should be made payable to Parke Express Preschool, LLC.  Checks for books should be made payable to Scholastic Books.

I strongly believe in positive motivation.  I believe encouraging positive behavior goes further than punishing a young child.  When a problem arises, I will talk with the child/children and we will work to resolve the problem.  A short time-out or loss of privilege may result.  I will inform parents if there are any problems in the classroom.  Please don’t hesitate to speak with me about any concerns that you may have, even if they are minor concerns.  Small problems can become big problems because of simple misunderstandings.

•  Children’s Sick Days:  If your child is sick or contagious, please keep them home for at least 24 hours.

•  Teacher’s Sick Days:  If I can’t teach because of an emergency, illness, or funeral, I will do my best to arrange for a substitute teacher. If that isn’t possible, however, I’ll        notify you that school has been canceled.  If more that 2 days are cancelled in any month, the missed classes will be rescheduled.  Classes missed due to holidays, teacher workdays, or Children’s Sick Days will not be rescheduled.

There will be a couple of field trips throughout the year. Parents will be responsible to provide transportation for their children to and from field trips, such as arranging to carpool.

In order to enroll in Parke Express Preschool, all children must be able to use the restroom independently.  For liability reasons, we cannot make exceptions to this policy.

If your child is unable to make it to the restroom in time, I will provide underwear and pants/shorts for your child to change his or her clothing.  Your child will need to change their clothing independently.  If a child needs help in changing, parents will be notified to come to their child’s assistance.  In these circumstances, your child can keep the underwear that I provide, but the pants/shorts should be washed by you, and returned to me as soon as possible.  A donation of $1 per incident is requested to help defer the cost of providing underwear.

Each child’s birthday will be celebrated at school, on their birthday if possible, or if not possible, as near their birthday as can be arranged.  Children’s birthdays occurring during the summer will be celebrated on designated dates throughout the school year.  Parents may send treats for all the children in celebration of their child’s birthday, so long as the treats are: (1) purchased from a store, and (2) do not take too long to eat.

We will do weekly “Show-N-Tell”, boys on one day of the week, girls on the other.  Please encourage your child to bring only one item to show to the class (on their assigned day).  All “Show-N-Tell” items should begin with the letter of the alphabet that is being taught in class that week.  We will begin “Show-N-Tell” in October. To prepare your child for public school please do not allow your child to bring toy guns, knives or any type of weapon.

We collect several items for the benefit of the classroom. Some of these items help us earn free supplies for the preschool.

•  Campbell’s Soup Labels:  Please cut out the UPC’s and send them to school with your child.

•  Print Cartridges:  Please send your used print cartridges to the school with your child.

Miscellaneous Supplies:  We also collect clean milk carton lids, buttons, yarn, ribbon, beads, etc.  Anything we can use to sort, count or use for collages and art projects.

Your child’s picture may be taken for classroom scrapbooks, the end of year preschool CD, a copy of which is distributed to all students, and for use on the preschool’s website.

Parking:  Please do not park in the driveway to pick up or drop of your child.  Enter the circle going the direction of traffic.

• Child Drop-Off: There will be a sign on the door, indicating whether your child should enter the preschool: red sign = please wait; greed sign = come in.  If you arrive early, please wait.  I will generally open the door a few minutes before the start of class.

• Child Pick-Up:  I will bring children out 5 minutes before class gets out and watch for you to get out of your car.  Children will not be allowed to go to the street by themselves for safety reasons.  Children will only be allowed to go home with those listed on their information page.  If you need to make arrangements for someone else to pick up your child, please send a note with your child or give me a call in advance to let me know.  This is a matter of safety.

• Toy Policy:  Except as necessary for “Show-N-Tell”, please make sure that your children leave all toys at home.  Failure to do so can result in distractions in the classroom, lost toys, broken toys, or toys getting mixed up with others in the classroom.

• Label Items:  Label all of your children’s personal items, including coats, sweaters, hats, gloves, etc.

Parent/Child Concerns: Please let me know if there are any personal problems going on at home (death, divorce, new sibling) so I can better meet the needs of your child.

To enroll your child please print the Information sheet (located below a an attachment) and return to me with your registration money to guarantee your child's spot.
