  • Congratulations

We would like to congratulate all our young parishioners who received their leaving certificate results during the week and ask parishioners to remember them in their prayers as they start this new exciting stage of their lives.

We also sadly ask parishioners to pray for the family of a young man, Mohammed Alrawehneh, from Ferncourt who sat his leaving cert this year but who died while on holiday in Jordan during July.  May God look after them at this dreadful time and may Mohammed rest in peace.

  • A morning of celebration for Sr Mary's missionary life with our parish:
Sr Mary speaking after Mass in Holy Rosary church on the occasion of her farewell to Bohernabreena parish

On Sunday 18th October, we marked Sr Mary's contribution to our parish with a celebratory mass at 10.30 in Holy Rosary church. She has playe
d a very central and active role in Bohernabreena parish in the last 16 years, and is retiring to live with her community of FCJ nuns in LimerickA procession of candles at the beginning of Mass marked some of her contribution in various areas of church and parish life, Bishop Eamonn Walsh said a few words, and Martin Donaghy spoke at the end, with a poem that one of the parishioners had penned.

The church was full of people who wanted to mark this occasion with her, and it took a long time for everyone to say their few words to Sr Mary after the mass was over. While the hospitality team served tea and cake, the chat was great, and the church was busy (and noisy!) until 1.30pm with people saying goodbye.

Sr Mary in Roseanna Hall after Mass in St Anne's church with parishioners saying goodbye

Earlier in the week she had attended Mass at St Anne's, and there was a chance for goodbyes and a cuppa after in Roseanna Hall too.

A collection was made which will go towards refugees, Sr Mary's charity of choice, and many people signed certificates with ways of contributing to our church communities as a way of thanking Sr Mary. We look forward to working together as a parish community to live our Christian calling in a way that honours Sr Mary in her contribution and dedication to our parish. It was fitting that this celebration took place on Mission Sunday, as Sr Mary's mission was lived out in our parish for so long and for this we give thanks to God and pray blessings on her in her new home in Limerick.
