Statement on vote of no confidence

On May 29, 2007, more than 40 home and school associations and parent-led organizations issued a vote of NO CONFIDENCE in the School Reform Commission’s fiscal year 2008 budget, which was scheduled to pass that day.

After struggling for more than a year to unveil a massive budget deficit and protect students and classrooms from more than $100 million in cuts, Parents United felt that a large scale and dramatic action was necessary. Since then, we have seen dramatic changes in leadership and direction of our public schools. Parents have led that charge for accountability and we pledge to remain vigilant and true to maintaining that vision.
