Welcome

Welcome! If you have a student at Libertyville High School...then YOU are a Parent CAT! The ParentCATS is an organization that serves the student body, supports school policy and partners with the staff of LHS. ParentCATS seeks to support a positive educational and high school experience at LHS by enhancing school-home communication and providing volunteer services.  All parents or guardians of a LHS student are automatically members.

ANNOUNCEMENTS:

NEXT PARENTCATS MEETING - WEDNESDAY, MARCH 6 IN ROOM 1107 at 7PM
Great meeting in February as parents, D128 and LHS administration  discussed Standards-Based Grading, dual credit vs. AP credits and other curriculum initiatives! Thanks to everyone who came (we had to move locations!), Director of Curriculum Rita Fischer, Vice Principal Ray Albin and English Department Chair Paul Reiff.  Please join us on March 6th for our next meeting, as welcome John Woods, our new Athletic Director!

MENTAL HEALTH INITIATIVES!
This semester we will focus on educating and discussing mental health among teens, and how parents can have discussions with their students. "Angst" is a film on teen anxiety. As part of the RealTalk Series, we showed the film on Thursday, February 21st and had a panel discussion with LHS Social Worker Greg Loika, YFC Clinical Director Gina Toper, LHS Wellness and Prevention Director Dr. Brenda Nelson, Principal Dr. Koulentes, LHS students Layan Abdo, Julia Sahaigan and ParentCATS President Joy Bach. View clips of the film HERE

The next parent meeting on mental health and wellness will be on Wednesday, March 13 from 7-8 in Room 149.  Dr. Brenda Nelson and Stacie Nevins will lead a discussion on mindfulness and coping strategies. Please contact Joy Bach at joypbach@comcast.net if you are interested in getting involved.
