“There are only two reasons a non-seer would see a spirit on St. Mark’s Eve,” Neeve said. “Either you’re his true love . . . or you killed him.”
It is freezing in the churchyard, even before the dead arrive.

Every year, Blue Sargent stands next to her clairvoyant mother as the soon-to-be dead walk past. Blue herself never sees them—not until this year, when a boy emerges from the dark and speaks directly to her.

His name is Gansey, and Blue soon discovers that he is a rich student at Aglionby, the local private school. Blue has a policy of staying away from Aglionby boys. Known as Raven Boys, they can only mean trouble.

But Blue is drawn to Gansey, in a way she can’t entirely explain. He has it all—family money, good looks, devoted friends—but he’s looking for much more than that. He is on a quest that has encompassed three other Raven Boys: Adam, the scholarship student who resents all the privilege around him; Ronan, the fierce soul who ranges from anger to despair; and Noah, the taciturn watcher of the four, who notices many things but says very little.

For as long as she can remember, Blue has been warned that she will cause her true love to die. She never thought this would be a problem. But now, as her life becomes caught up in the strange and sinister world of the Raven Boys, she’s not so sure anymore.
I love Maggie Stiefvater's writing. She is very unique, she does something different with each series. I knew as soon as I saw The Raven Boys, that I would enjoy it! I was right, Maggie did not disappoint. This super-natural thriller was awesome, to say the least. I've have read that this book, is about The Sleeping King myth, I am not familiar with this myth. I had to look it up on Wikipedia. (I would be lost without that site :)) The characters were very solid and interesting. Of course Maggie Stiefvater is a ninja with skills, when it comes to character development.

Blue might be my favorite female role yet (where Maggie is concerned), she is a very strong female lead. Blue has a lot of personality and a gusto for adventure! She comes from a family of psychics. Her job is to make energy bigger, stronger. Her mother and family has told her for many years, that if Blue kisses her true love, he would die! Then she meets the Raven Boys, and falls hard for one of them.

Gansey, Adam, Ronan and Noah were all great characters. I really liked their friendship and loyalty to each other. With all different personalities and lifestyles, it makes The Raven Boys a very fun read! They all loved Blue when they met her, they weren't sure about her gift however, but soon they become friends. None of them know about her destiny though. Of course Blue keeps this secret from them, Yet she can't help falling in love.

The Raven Boys, of course, ends in some sort of a slight cliffhanger, You pretty much know who her true love is... But Maggie is taking it slow with this series, which I prefer. This book was awesome in everyway. It's different, unique, and an entertaining read.
