Lena Duchannes is unlike anyone the small Southern town of Gatlin has ever seen, and she's struggling to conceal her power, and a curse that has haunted her family for generations. But even within the overgrown gardens, murky swamps and crumbling graveyards of the forgotten South, a secret cannot stay hidden forever.

Ethan Wate, who has been counting the months until he can escape from Gatlin, is haunted by dreams of a beautiful girl he has never met. When Lena moves into the town's oldest and most infamous plantation, Ethan is inexplicably drawn to her and determined to uncover the connection between them.

In a town with no surprises, one secret could change everything.

The Casters all have different abilities. There are some who can control your mind, read your thoughts, move things with their mind. Their are also a lot of chanting curses and witchcraft. Voodoo is mentioned several times and practiced. Magic is heavy throughout the book.

Did I like this book?

I love, love, loved this book. It was very magical and romantic. Ethan is such a great main male character. Lena just lights up the book when she is mentioned. Very well written. I loved the parts where Lena and Ethan would talk to each other in their heads. (reading each other thoughts) I also liked when Macon Ravenwoods plantation home would change with his mood and event. Very descriptive.
This is such a great book, it would be a shame to miss it.
