I carve stone intuitively, direct carving abstract forms. As I carve, the stone may reveal hidden crystals, fossils or colored veins, challenging my understanding of the forms potential and possibilities. I use the tension of sharp edges and polished surfaces against the raw, natural surfaces of the stone, a welcoming invitation to touch what was one cold, gray and hard as it becomes transformed into warm contours and textures.

A Seattle native, I attended Seattle University, majoring in fine arts, with a minor in art history. Initially studying scientific illustration, my pen and ink and watercolor images were detailed and realistic. My current medium of carving stone is mostly abstract. I currently reside in Snohomish County where my home overlooks a lush greenbelt with yipping coyote pups and hooting owls.
