Ghost Hunters (TAPS)

Ghost Hunters on the SyFy Network record this amazing EVP from the Mount Washington Hotel on February 6th, 2008.

It seems the Princess never left the room.

Electronic voice phenomena (EVP) are electronically generated noises that resemble speech, but are not the result of intentional voice recordings or renderings. Common sources of EVP include static, stray radio transmissions, and background noise.

Some have claimed these sounds are of paranormal origin, while there are natural explanations such as apophenia (finding significance in insignificant phenomena), auditory pareidolia (interpreting random sounds as voices in their own language), equipment artifacts, or simple hoaxes.

Recordings of EVP are often created from background sound by increasing the gain (i.e. sensitivity) of the recording equipment.

Parapsychologist Konstantin Raudive, who popularized the idea, described EVP as typically brief, usually the length of a word or short phrase.

The Mount Washington Hotel opened in 1902 near Mount Washington, in the town of Carroll, New Hampshire.

The area is better known as Bretton Woods, and includes the Bretton Woods ski resort nearby.

It is located at the northern end of Crawford Notch, 6 miles (9.7 km) east of the village of Twin Mountain, New Hampshire, along U.S. Route 302.

The hotel was constructed at a cost of 1.7 million dollars by Joseph Stickney, a native of Waltham, Massachusetts who had made a fortune before the age of 30 as a Pennsylvania based coal broker.

In 1881 Stickney and a partner had purchased the Mount Pleasant Hotel nearby from lumberman John T.G. Leavitt, a large early hotel that was later demolished.

Subsequently, Stickney began work on his Mount Washington Hotel. He brought in 250 Italian artisans to build it, particularly the granite and stucco masonry.

Construction started in 1900 on the Y-shaped hotel, which opened July 28th, 1902. At the opening ceremony, Stickney told the audience: "Look at me, gentlemen ... for I am the poor fool who built all this!"

Within a year he was dead at the age of 64.

It is believed by some that this hotel is haunted by multiple spirits. Some of the clearest EVPs have been captured in this hotel of a person who is believed to have once been a princess who partially owned the hotel.

Princess Carolyn Stickney according to the evidence found from Ghost Hunters appears to have been directly communicating to them through an intelligent haunting of EVPs.
