Cool Edit Pro - Syntrillium Software Corporation Cool Edit Pro is the digital audio software package you've been waiting for. It's a breeze to learn and use, packs enough top-quality digital effects modules to fill a room full of rack  mounts, and can mix up to 64 tracks together, using just about any sound card. It's like having thousands of dollars' worth of professional audio equipment all in one easy-to-use software package. 64-track digital audio recording, editing, and mixing. * (I like this one the best.) *

DeCl "DeCL is a tool to remove clicks from wave audio files. DeCL only uses simple heuristics, so don't expect wonders. Some effects (e.g. pitchshifts) or problems with zeros while sequencing are my top candidates for clicks."

EchoFilter - Digital Audio Filtering Software EchoFilter was developed as a general-purpose real-time digital audio filter. It incorporates a programmable audio filter as well as a frequency counter up to 10 KHz with a 10 Hz resolution. A Real-time spectrum analyzer helps to visualize the incoming audio signal. A Variety of function plots is available to display certain properties of the filtered signal over time. EchoFilter is a shareware product. (Works with mic or line in; but not wav files. Ham radio tool.)

EVPmaker EVPmaker is a free software program for the generation of acoustic "raw material" for recordings of "tape voices", also known as "Electronic Voice Phenomena" (EVP), using the means of random controlled phoneme synthesis.

EVPatchworker German - Freeware for `` paranormale " experiments - EVPatchworker is a software for synthesizing of EVP

DSPFIL - Michael Keller - DL6iAK DSPFIL runs as a free programmable LOW/HIGH/BANDPASS FIR filter in the audio range 0-4kHz and is programmable in the fly in real-time. Sampling rate is 8000 samples/s. Lower/Upper-edge or width and center can be changed by the track bars. The graphic window shows the filter in frequency domain. Changing the filter is done by moving the track bars. If track bar is activated, the arrow keys allow adjustment by one Hz increment. Any change will update the filter in real-time. FREE. (Works with mic or line in; but not wav files. Ham radio tool.)

Pro Tools FREE! PRO TOOLS 5.01 LE [40MB] W9x/Mac OS FREE - Professional audio engineers have been using Pro Tools as their audio editor of choice for several years. Some of that same functionality can be had on your very own home system for free. You are limited to 8 tracks and 2 I/O devices, as well as a mere 48 MIDI devices, but that should be enough for users just getting started in the world of audio, and more than enough for people tweaking voice tracks. "Pro Tools FREE includes real-time DSP processing plug-ins and is compatible with a large assortment of RTAS (Real-Time AudioSuite) and AudioSuite Plug-ins developed by Digidesign and Digidesign's many Development Partners." Some of the included plug-ins are editing standards like EQ, Dynamics, DirectConnect, Mod Delay, and Dither. * (I like this one.) *

Software für die Tonbandstimmenforschung German - Software for the tape voice research

Sonic Foundry Sound Forge 5.0 Sound Forge® 5.0 - Sound Forge is Sonic Foundry's award-winning two-track digital audio editor. Sound Forge includes a powerful set of audio processes, tools, and effects for manipulating audio. This one-of-a-kind application is perfect for audio editing, audio recording, effects processing and media encoding. Combine Sound Forge with any Windows-compatible sound card to create, record, and edit audio files. The clean and familiar Windows interface makes editing a breeze. It also has built-in support for video and CD burning and can save to a number of audio and video file formats, including WAV, WMA, RM, AVI, and MP3. *** (I think this is the most useful for diagnosing the Hz of a sample. It gives Hz in real numbers in the statistics, and you just highlight a portion of the sample to diagnose it.) ***

Sound recording tools: Total Recorder - captures any audio from the Internet, records audio from CD, microphone, line-in, converts any sound formats to WAVE and MP3

Download, Free wav files, Free animated gifs, Custom web site designing. Gram 50 - The spectrogram display reveals the audio signal as a frequency versus time plot with signal amplitude at each frequency represented by intensity (or color). The display can be configured for either dual channel or single channel audio with a wide selection of frequency resolutions and either linear or logarithmic frequency scales. In dual channel operation, the spectrogram window is split into left and right halves with separate scrolling spectrograms for the left and right audio channels. A continuous readout of time (milliseconds), frequency (Hz) and signal power level (dB) at the position of the mouse pointer (cursor) is displayed at the bottom left of the display. A coordinate grid can also be added or removed by clicking the "Toggle Grid" button at the bottom right of the display. In the Analyze File mode, Spectrogram can play back the audio sample through your sound card when you click the "Play" or "PlayWdw" buttons at the bottom right of the display. PlayWdw replays only the segment of the spectrogram visible in the display window; whereas, Play replays the entire width of the spectrogram. *

1. Audacity: Highly recommended by the Ghostlytrue.com writer, this software is described as being easy to use. The program is available for Windows, Linux and Mac operating systems.  It can record and edit sounds and convert them into MP3 or WAV files. Also, it has the features to cut, copy and mix sounds.  Interestingly, this is one of several sound editing programs being packaged as superior EVP software (not by the software company, but by several blogs promoting belief in the paranormal).

2. Audio Spectrum Analyzer: Offered by PKI (Psychokinetic Energy Investigation). It supposedly can “analyze the sounds through a spectrogram" (it should be noted, however, that spectrograms are no longer offered on its website).

3. AoA Audio Extractor Basic: this program is described as a background audio extractor. Interestingly, it’s a program that was meant to convert audio format files; edit and change sounds and voices; and convert songs for karaoke recording. However, ghost hunters use its editing tool to extract and isolate certain sounds for analysis.

4. EVP Assistant v1.0 – Noise Generator: it is one of the few sound editing programs designed for detecting EVP. It was created by Mark Andrew Turner of the EVP Research Association UK. According to its website, it can generate noise that can be played through desktop PC or laptop speakers.

Also, according to the website, the noises are meant to be part of “inter frequency experiments” and will produce such sounds as “white noise, pink noise, brown noise, waterfall, and Spiricom.” A Spiricom is a paranormal communication device that supposedly allows the living to have a two-way conversation with spirits. The Spiricom mentioned is actually a recording supposedly made by this device.  Although EVP Assistant is free, the website it’s featured on accepts donations.

5. Wavosaur Audio Editor: Like Audacity and AoA Audio Extractor Basic, this sound editing program was not designed with EVP in mind. However, Ghostlytrue.Com states that it is an “excellent choice for Free EVP recordings.”

6. EVP Maker 2.5 Software: another program made exclusively to record and edit EVPs.  This program is more experimental. It provides recordings of supposed paranormal voices for one to analyze on the system (or, as they call it, “raw material” for recording). Also, according to its website, it “divides any recording of speech into short segments and then plays them back continuously in random order.” It offers the sound as background noise for EVP recordings.

“Of course, the program can also be used to generate special acoustical or musical effects,” the website also stated.
