ABOUT

Risen ape, optimistic nihilist, philosophical skeptic, secular humanist, atheist+, feminist, LGBTQ ally, dudeist, pastafarian (pirate of the Church of the Flying Spaghetti Monster), trekker, librocubicularist, clinobibliophile, tsundokultist, ailurophile, chess patzer, Friend of Charles Darwin (FCD) & 3,142th most awesome guy north of the St-Lawrence river. Worked most of my life as an operator (dispatch & helpdesk) in the field of electronic security until MS forced me into early retirement. Usually sentient after the morning coffee. Occasionally snorts ithe latter out through the nose in the general direction of improbable people, but prefers to roll the eyes when in polite company.

Furthermore, I'm a satirically, heterosexually inclined 54yo male carbon-based bag of mostly water living on a speck of iron-silicate dust around a boring dwarf star in a minor galaxy in an underpopulated local group of galaxies in an unfashionable suburb of the Laniakea supercluster (thanks to Douglas Adams for the help). I stand for freedom of expression framed by critical thinking, open democracy & state/church separation. I abhor tyrannies, absolutisms, unquestioned traditions, unhinged skepticism & complacent ethical relativisms.

I'm a permanent member of Sceptiques du Québec, board member of Atheist Freethinkers (membre permanent de Libres penseurs athées & Sceptiques du Québec). I'm most of the time bilingual (French/English) and trilingual when I've had a beer (or a sleepless night) too many (donc ne vous gênez pas pour me contacter en français).

I can be found on twitter, facebook, goodreads, reddit , soundcloud, giphy and SETI@home. I recommend the Hirschmilch Electronic internet radio to help mix your coffee molecules.

"I don't want to believe. I want to know." ― Carl Sagan

" If your belief system is not founded in an objective reality, you should not be making decisions that affect other people." ― Neil deGrasse Tyson

“Once one invokes the supernatural, anything can be explained, and no explanation can be verified.” ― Steven Weinberg

“ If knowledge can create problems, it is not through ignorance that we can solve them.” ― Isaac Asimov

" Religion. It's given people hope in a world torn apart by religion." — Jon Stewart

" You are entitled to your opinion. But you are not entitled to your own facts.” — Daniel Patrick Moynihan

“ The effort to understand the universe is one of the very few things that lifts human life a little above the level of farce, and gives it some of the grace of tragedy.”― Steven Weinberg

"In expanding the field of knowledge we but increase the horizon of ignorance." - Henry Miller

“ The invisible and the non-existent look very much alike.”― Steven Weinberg

“ If there is no solace in the fruits of our research, there is at least some consolation in the research itself. Men and women are not content to comfort themselves with tales of gods and giants, or to confine their thoughts to the daily affairs of life; they also build telescopes and satellites and accelerators and sit at their desks for endless hours working out the meaning of the data they gather.” ― Steven Weinberg

“ With or without religion, you would have good people doing good things and evil people doing evil things. But for good people to do evil things, that takes religion.” ― Steven Weinberg

“ You're an interesting species. An interesting mix. You're capable of such beautiful dreams, and such horrible nightmares. You feel so lost, so cut off, so alone, only you're not. See, in all our searching, the only thing we've found that makes the emptiness bearable, is each other.” ― Carl Sagan, "Contact"

" Babylon 5 was the last of the Babylon stations. There would never be another. It changed the future and it changed us. It taught us that we have to create the future or others will do it for us. It showed us that we have to care for one another, because if we don't, who will? And that true strength sometimes comes from the most unlikely places. Mostly, though, I think it gave us hope, that there can always be new beginnings. Even for people like us." ― Susan Ivanova, a character from Michael J. Straczynski's TV series "Babylon 5"
