Giant Swallow tail Papilio cresphontes, have been seen over a half-dozen times here in Berks County Pennsylvania in August and early September. Although they have ben seen in the past they have not been "regulars" This very beat up Giant swallowtail showed up in our yard 9/3/2011 and stayed for about 20 minutes leaving at 4:17 pm. It nectared at the Butterfly bush (Buddleia davidii) also briefly at a potted Verbena bonariensis. Like most other swallowtails it rarely held its wings still. Even though though the left wings were in poor shape it still flew very strongly and in balance.
