Welcome to my home page! I am an Full Professor at the Department of Economics of the University of Bologna. I did my undergraduate studies at Bocconi and completed my Ph.D. in Pompeu Fabra in 2007, after another one in Pavia and one year in Bonn. I joined Bologna in 2008 after working as Assistant Professor in Padua, and I spent research periods abroad in Osnabrück, Berlin (FU) and Buenos Aires (UTDT and, between 2016 and 2020, UdeSA). Besides in Italy, I have taught courses abroad in Barcelona (UPF) and Buenos Aires (UCA and Unibo).

My research interests include:

  • Social Economics (Social Capital, Social Interactions, Moral Values, Substance Use and Abuse)

  • Crime Economics (Social and Moral Enforcement of Law, Economic Roots and Political Consequences of Organized Crime and Terrorism)

  • Political Economy (Asymmetric Information, Historical and Political Roots of Development, State Capacity)

  • Microeconomic Theory (Dynamic Price Effects)
