FRENCH APPLE DESSERT SQUARES

  • STREUSEL:

  • 1 c
    original Bisquick mix
  • 1/2 c
    packed brown sugar, or Splenda brown sugar
  • 1/4 c
    butter or margarine
  • 3/4 c
    chopped pecans
  • FRUIT MIXTURE:

  • 6 c
    baking apples, (6 mediium) peeled and sliced (I used Honeycrisp)
  • 2 tsp
    ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp
    ground nutmeg
  • 1 c
    original Bisquick mix
  • 1 c
    granulated sugar, or Splenda
  • 1 c
    milk
  • 2 Tbsp
    butter, melted
  • 4
    eggs, beaten

METHOD:
1. Heat oven to 350°F. Spray 13x9-inch pan with cooking spray.
2. In a medium bowl, mix 1 cup Bisquick mix and the brown sugar.
Cut in 1/4 cup butter, using pastry blender until crumbly.
Stir in nuts; set aside.
3. In a large bowl, mix apples, cinnamon and nutmeg; spoon into baking pan.
4. In a medium bowl, stir remaining ingredients until well blended.
Pour mixture over apples.
Sprinkle with streusel.
5. Bake 45 to 55 minutes or until knife inserted in center comes out clean and top is golden brown.
6. Cool 30 minutes or until set before cutting into squares.

Serve warm, room temperature, or chilled.
Store covered in refrigerator.
