Kenny Flats

"Kenny Flats" is ride #12 originally published in the book “PAGOSA RIDES; Mountain Biking in and around Pagosa Springs” by Gary Hopkins.

Kenney Flats is an area of rolling hills and flats with scattered groves of oak and pine. The forest service is in the process of doing forest restoration work in this area and it is possible you could encounter controlled burns or brush and small tree mulching operations. Kenney Flats is an excellent early season warm-up ride. Wildflowers can be profuse in late spring, depending on the amount of winter moisture. The elevtions on this loop range from 7600-8000’. The low elevtions and lack of significant drainages usually result in rideable terrain sometime in April. Beware though, if the roads are wet they will be sticky and slick! This is a good ride for beginners with some experience.
