Blessing of the Soil: A St. Gertrude's Day Celebration
March 16, 2014 Join us at the Pennsylvania German Cultural Heritage Center Kitchen Garden for a blessing of the soil, on St. Gertrude’s Day, March 16th at 1:00 P.M. A short presentation on the history and gardening customs surrounding St. Gertrude will be offered by Dr. William Woys Weaver, renowned culinary historian and author of As American As Shoefly Pie. A book signing will follow a traditional blessing of the soil to kick off our gardening season. This event is free to the public, registration is not required. March 22, 2014 2nd Annual PA German Zammelaaf to be held at New Covenant Christian School, 452 Ebenezer Road (Rt. 72N), Lebanon, PA 17046 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. A 'not to be missed' event for people seriously interested in Pennsylvania German history, culture and language.
