You're Invited to Glieder Fescht,
our annual fundraising and membership dinner.
All members of the community are welcome.
Glieder Fescht will be held on Monday, May 13th 2013 - doors will open at 5:30 p.m. Our keynote speaker this year will be celebrated food historian Dr. William Woys Weaver.
Dr. Weaver will be available for a book-signing following the Glieder Fescht program for his new book
As American as Shoofly Pie: The Foodlore and Fakelore of Pennsylvania Dutch Cuisine. This book, $34.95, will be available for purchase during the event, or at www.williamwoysweaver.com or www.pennpress.org.
On the menu for the evening of the 13th will be a served dinner, starting with a spinach salad with hard-boiled eggs and bacon dressing, fresh-baked dinner rolls with butter, and cottage cheese and apple butter. The main course will be chicken schnitzel with braised red cabbage and mashed potatoes. We are offering a vegetarian option of potato pancakes with braised red cabbage. For dessert we will have a choice of shoofly or apple pie with hot coffee or hot tea. Water and iced tea will be served with dinner.
