Eddie Deaton is currently in his ninth year as Director of Bands at Walter Hines Page High School. Mr. Deaton holds a Bachelor of Music in Music Education with a Second Major in American History (with distinction, 2004) and a Master of Arts in Teaching (2005) from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. While attending Chapel Hill as a recipient of the North Carolina Teaching Fellows Scholarship, Mr. Deaton studied horn performance, conducting, and music education while performing in the Wind Ensemble, the Symphony Orchestra, the Marching Tar Heels, and various chamber ensembles.
Mr. Deaton has studied horn with Jack Masarie, Pam Halverson and Kim van Pelt. He has studied conducting with Dr. Michael Votta, Jr. and Tonu Kalam.
Originally from Greensboro, NC, Mr. Deaton graduated in 2000 from Page High School, where he performed as a member of the Symphonic Band, Wind Ensemble and served as Drum Major of the Marching Band. He is a member of Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia (Alpha Rho), Golden Key International Honour Society, the North Carolina Music Educator's Association and the National Association for Music Education. He currently serves as the President-Elect for the Central District Bandmasters Association, as well as the high school auditions chair.
