Silent Barn held it's third public meeting last Friday (June 22nd) at Exapno. We were joined by the following panelists:
Kunal Gupta: Babycastles
G. Lucas Crane: Silent Barn
Victoria Sobel: Occupy Wall Street - NYC General Assembly
Maia Murphy: The Public School
Cory Bracken: Exapno
Rachel Steinberg: The Trade School
Justin Colletti: Vaudeville Park
The panel got into a lengthy discussion about the issue of who makes up a collective? Does it run on volunteers? If so, what are their roles and how do they influence your project? As well as, how do you make decisions within your collectives? Who are your leaders? How do you distribute responsibility?
Following the discussion there was a musical interlude by Beggars In a New Land.
During which attendees sampled many of the fine snacks available
Attendees also discussed the issues at hand amongst themselves before the panel reconvened to answer questions from the audience on issues of making and distributing money within a collective.
