REAL ESTATE UPDATE

The pictures included are from the most recent property investigation. This space is more familiar in size and shape --think the  old silent barn but add a shot of left over piety.

Let's keep the ball rolling with new real estate! We are not only making new serious developments locking down potential spaces, but we are still exploring! Just today we had the chance to view another awesome space close to the 'Husk' [new terminology for Old Silent Barn]! Words can't express how excited we are to share these developments with you! Every suggestion helps, every comment, every idea- keep um' coming!! Katie

MONDAY MEETINGS

The Silent Barn is a constantly evolving pile of nonsense that includes many of you, but some of us most heavily involved in organizing Silent Barn's transitional phase have been meeting every Monday, from 8 - 10pm, to hash out some of the crazier, dirtier conversations that shape our new vision of the space, as well as just combine forces for a moment and help each other out.

It's fun! It's seri...ous. It's a lot of exciting thought. It makes me feel that the new space will definitely be more special than the old space. While we've been gathering regularly for meetings in venues like Ran Lotus Teahouse, or The Wallet, or even Roulette, we feel like wandering a bit and exploring some new places. If you have a suggestion for an interesting space that about 10 people can gather and work in on any Monday night, please email me at djkgamc@gmail.com! Kunal

BED STUY COMMUNITY BOARD MEETING
Joe, Kunal, and I attended a community board meeting!

One space on our radar is in Bed Stuy, so we wanted  introduce the project and learn more about the concerns and needs of the neighborhood. It was pretty exciting because they were pretty into it and insinuated that the neighborhood was in need of spaces like The Silent Barn --- incubation chambers that promote creative activity and positively spark interest in music and the arts.

The great part about being a legal venue is we can do things like this. We can open our doors, put up a sign, and invite everyone inside. It feels really great, and expands the impact we can have in whichever neighborhood we decide to reside in.

Bed Stuy is just one possibility we are looking into. We are still in the process of exploring other locations and going on bike tours around Brooklyn and Queens. (The church pictures are from another space in Queens!)

If you have any information we should know about art in Bed Stuy, or have any concerns email me at alisonrsirico@gmail.com. Alison

PARTY LAB UPDATE

PROPOSE A QUESTION:

If you could look at a detailed report, moment to moment, of EXACTLY WHAT HAPPENED last night, any night, whatever night you gathered at, where you were with the people, all people, your people; what would you learn?

If you listened deeply to all moments of a party, would you discover what questions to ask of ALL PARTIES FOREVER?

DEEP LISTENING TECHNICIANS NEEDED.

We need help formulating the HYPOTHESES concerning HUMAN NATURE as captured by the large, multi-room, purposely distorted field recording system known as THE PARTY LAB.

BEFORE YOU CAN GET AN ANSWER, YOU NEED TO KNOW THE QUESTION

Hypothesis: All parties are the same party. All things that can happen at a party happen at all parties. The only thing that changes is the scale of each thing.

DON'T KNOW HOW TO START, BUT WANT TO HELP?

Seriously, guys, take the muthafuckin' BARN Exam! It's not hard, just silly! It continues to be our primary source for volunteers, and is the only way we're able to find out about your awesome skills and cool ideas. If you have any interest in supporting, developing, or contributing to the Silent Barn, the BARN Exam is the first step!
