In Cub Scouts, your child will have lots of fun, learn many new things, and develop good friendships. But Cub Scouts is so much more than that. It is fun with a purpose! Everything your child does in Cub Scouts – making crafts, participating in ceremonies, playing games and sports, earning awards, going camping, learning new skills - will be done with a purpose in mind. Specifically, the goals of Scouts BSA when incorporated in 1910 were to provide an educational program for scouts, build desirable qualities of character, train responsible citizens, and develop personal fitness.
Cub Scouting has ten purposes:
Character Development
Respectful Relationships
Good Citizenship
Spiritual Growth
Personal Achievement
Friendly Service
Sportsmanship & Fitness
Family Understanding
Fun and Adventure
Preparation for a Scouts BSA troop
The Cub Scouts of America colors are blue and gold. They have special meaning, which helps scouts see beyond the fun of Cub Scouting to its ultimate goals. The blue stands for truth and spirituality, steadfast loyalty, and the sky above. The gold stands for warm sunlight, good cheer and happiness.
