Advancement for each grade level is laid out in the Handbook for that rank. Tiger Scouts and other older first year scouts will first earn the Bobcat rank, which is an introduction into the Scout Law, Scout Oath, Cub Scout sign, and handshake. Cub Scout ranks are as follows:
To earn each rank, there are a number of required adventures (typically 5 or 6) that your scout must complete between June and May. There are also elective adventures of which most ranks require earning at least one to advance.
Advancement is tracked online through the official BSA ScoutBook program. After being registered with the Pack, parents will have access to ScoutBook for all their children and will be able to enter completion of any requirements, hikes, camping, or other activities related to scouting.
A ScoutBook app is also available from the Google Play or iTunes store which allows parents to enter completed adventures from their mobile device, but it does not have the entire functionality of the website.
