Lots of Updates this month
New scouts, if you need additional email addresses on the pack distribution list, please email Nicole. Also, please feel free to join our Closed Group on Facebook. Go to: https://www.facebook.com/groups/Pack41Marlborough/ Request to join and someone from the Committee will admit you shortly! Also, it's recommended to get on our Council's email list too. We're part of Knox Trail Council, which oversees Boy Scouts and Cub Scouts in 21 towns in Metrowest, as well as the Cub Scout Summer Camp in Bolton. They send out a weekly email on Thursdays with upcoming events. Go to http://www.ktc-bsa.org/ and there should be a pop-up asking to join the mailing list.
Our next Pack Meeting is Monday October 17th from 645- 8 pm. It's our Halloween Meeting, so please come in costume (no masks or weapons, please) and bring a decorated (painted, carved... be creative!) pumpkin for our Pumpkin Contest. Family members can dress up and bring in their own pumpkin too! The Scouts will get to vote on the Funniest, Scariest and Most Creative Pumpkin from each den and from the Family group too. Certificates will be awarded!
Please let your den leader know if your son has completed any requirements before Friday, October 14th, so we can award the Pins/Loops at the October Pack Meeting. All the boys who attended the Bobcat night have already been accounted for. If your son attended Cub Adventure Day Camp and/or Webelos Overnight Week, can you please forward a copy of (or the info from) their Achievement sheets as well.
Scouting for Food
Our first community service project is coming up in November. Scouting for Food is an event that occurs on two Saturdays: November 5th and 12th. The first weekend (time TBD by each den, there's a lot of flexibility), we hang tags on doors to let the residents know we'll be back next Saturday between 9am and 12 pm to collect food for the local Food Pantry. Then, we come back and collect the food. Typically, our Pack gets assigned an area of Marlborough with the Richer School district and we divide it up into smaller sections for the Dens to cover. Your Den Leader will have more information in late October, including where we need to canvas, the door tags and this year's drop off location. For more information, you can check out: http://scoutingforfood.info/
We're looking for Pack Committee Members. The Committee is the group which handles all of the logistics for the Pack. We meet once a month for about an hour to an hour and a half and we work on the budget, plan the activities at the Pack Meetings, fundraisers, and activities. We like to have at least one representative from each den, and it does not need to be the Den Leader. We currently have a few open or soon to be open positions including:
Just a quick recap of last night's meeting!
Some of our committee members looking at their last year in the pack, as their scouts bridge to Boy Scouts, so they are training their replacements this year. Jodi Eldridge is passing the Treasurer position to Colin Florendo and David Dichmann is training Jake Dalbec as Committee Chair.
Due to National increasing our registration fees, dues will be increasing by $5 this year. Please give your dues of $55 to Colin.
You should have received the popcorn order forms in the mail. The boys can start selling now. If you need more forms, please contact Howie. Popcorn orders at due and money are due at the next Pack Meeting on October 20th.
The Fishing Derby is this Sunday, September 21st from 10- 3 pm at the Marlborough Fish and Game. Thanks to Sullivan Tire for donating 4 World Cup Soccer Balls for the prizes!
We are having STEM Den again this year, but to allow us to do more exciting experiments, including making flashlight wrist bands, learning to weld with chocolate and small scale SAFE explosions, we're asking for a $10 per scout material fee. If your scout is interested, please let Nicole know by the next Pack Meeting on October 20th. The STEM Den meets monthly on Wednesday evenings from 7-8 at Richer School Cafeteria. The dates are: Oct 29, Nov 19, Dec 17, Jan 21, Feb 25, Mar 18, Apr 15, May 13, and Jun 10.
All STEM Den meetings and Pack meetings are on the Pack Calendar at: https://sites.google.com/site/pack41marlborough/calendar and will be updated on the Facebook page too.

If you would like to attend, you can reserve your spots at the Pack Meeting by bringing $58 per non-scout attending to Jodi in cash, check or credit card.
