Camporall 2018!

posted Sep 15, 2018, 12:07 PM by Webmaster Pack167   [ updated Sep 15, 2018, 12:11 PM ]

The new Scouting year always brings with it one of the most exciting events of the year - Camporall!  As in prior years, hundreds of Cub Scouts will gather for a family-friendly event out at Camp Snyder for a day of Scouting fun and a night of easy camping and awesome campfires.  This is a really good event even if you've done little or no camping before, as there's lots of folks around to lend a hand with that new tent or to give great cooking tips.

The theme this year is "Return to Earth" (since we went to Mars last year), and there will be the usual archery, BBs, crafts, water rockets, gem hunting, STEM lab, a monkey bridge as every year. This year we're also expecting a bunch of flight simulators from Udvar-Hazy!  Saturday-only and Camping options are available, and it is crazy-cheap at $17 per person.  Check out our Camporall page for more information.

Join Pack 167!

Fall is the perfect time to join the Cub Scouts. Our program year matches up with the school year, with rank badges being awarded in the Spring as the school year winds down. You'll see us at the ASFS Picnic, and wearing our uniforms on Thursday.

On Thursday night 9/20, we will be holding a "Join Scouting Night" with our partners the Girl Scouts, families can choose for themselves what Scouting program works best for them.  ASFS has graciously offered to let us use the multipurpose room for this special night from 6:30pm to 7:30pm.  We will run a modified Pack meeting, give out awards, and have lots of Scouting activities to show what we're all about.

Come on by!

History of Scouting Hike

posted Jul 24, 2018, 5:39 PM by Scott Lucier   [ updated Jul 24, 2018, 5:50 PM ]

A little liquid sunshine couldn't deter our hardy Scouts from a hike!  These waterproof boys led us on a 2.5 mile hike from National Geographic to the White House to Freedom Plaza, tracing this history of Scouting all the way. They all completed the scavenger hunt form and are eligible for The History Hike Medal. Great job, boys!

Goshen / Camp PMI 2018

posted Jul 8, 2018, 8:08 AM by Scott Lucier

A group of outstanding Pack 167 Scouts just completed an action-packed week at Camp PMI, at Goshen Scout Reservation. The Pack hiked, swam, shot arrows and BBs, built campfires, sang camp songs, and so much more we can't possibly fit it in to one post.

All fall 2018 rising 3rd and 4th grade Scouts will have the opportunity to visit this wonderful place in the summer of 2019.

Spring Camping...?

posted May 22, 2018, 8:00 PM by Webmaster Pack167

The rain chased us from our campsite, but a few brave souls from Pack 167 still came out for an evening of amazing climbing at Sandy Spring. The Park was not busy at all, everyone climbed all they wanted and towards the end we had the trees to ourselves. Was a great night after all!

Spring Campfire!

Mid-40s temperatures and strong winds would have made for a not-as-fun-and-possibly dangerous campfire, so we moved things indoors instead. Turns out, it was just as much fun! Thanks to the Webelos Den for organizing, and to all our our wonderful Scouts who entertained us all evening.
