Online pre-registration is required by Thursday, Feb. 21. Click HERE to register your family for the Pinewood Derby. Cars will still need to be presented for inspection and check in on Friday, Feb. 22. See details below.

Get excited because we're about to have some fun!

WHEN?
This year's annual Pack 12 Pinewood Derby will be held on February 22-23, 2019 at Our Lady of Mercy - either in the school gym (awaiting confirmation) or the OLOM Church Parish Activity Center.

Friday, February 22 from 6-8 PM will be the mandatory check-in/inspection period. Cars will be inspected for rules compliance and impounded overnight in preparation for the race. Cars may not be handled by anyone but race officials after the car is checked in. **Racers should be registered online by Thursday, February 21** (https://goo.gl/forms/1rz7XiDOtWrnSpGc2).

Saturday, February 23 from 1-4 PM is race day. The following schedule is an approximation of racing based on an estimated number of racers per rank and on the assumption that everyone is properly pre-registered and ready to race. Please arrive early and be prepared to stay later than your scheduled race time. And, by all means, feel free to hang around all afternoon and cheer on your fellow racers!

Lions 1-1:30 PM
Tigers 1:30-2 PM
Wolves 2-2:30 PM
Bears 2:30-3 PM
Webelos 3-3:30 PM
Arrow of Light 3:30-4 PM
Open Classes, Showstopper, and Overall Trophy presentation 4 PM till

WHAT TO EXPECT?
All race classes must abide by the rules, and each car will be inspected for compliance and impounded at the check-in/registration period on Friday evening. Non-compliant cars may be allowed to race if it is determined the car poses no threat to other legal cars, but would be ineligible for any trophies or advancement to the District race.

The first thing each rank will do at their scheduled race time is vote for their favorite cars in the Pack 12 Showstopper contest. The Showstopper trophy presentation will be held in conjunction with the overall trophy presentation at the end of the entire day of racing (approx. 4 PM). Following voting, Scouts will race against other Scouts in their rank for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place rank trophies, which will be presented at the end of each rank's race.

The top three average times of the day, regardless of rank, will be crowned 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place Overall Pack 12 Champions (Scouts only).

The day will end with an open class race which allows adults and siblings the chance to participate with their own cars. Depending on the number of entries, youth and adults may race together, but results will be separated and trophies awarded for both youth and adult.

WHAT DO I NEED TO DO?
1. Carefully read the rules. This year's Pinewood Derby rules are attached. Let us know right away if you are unclear on a rule; best to be sure than to be disqualified and disappointed.
The rules are also posted online at www.starcarsderby.com (click on Istrouma Area Council, then Sewell-Eagle District at the top-right navigation). You'll also find car body templates and helpful videos there to aid you in your build.
2. Register all your racers by Thursday, February 21. All racers (Scouts and open class youth and adult) should register separately for their race via the online link found here: https://goo.gl/forms/1rz7XiDOtWrnSpGc2
It is important that you do this so that we have all the data entered into the race software BEFORE you check-in and race. It will hold things up SIGNIFICANTLY if you miss this step.
3. We need volunteers to make the Derby a success. Sign up for one or more positions via the SignUpGenius page found here: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/5080D45AFAE2EA6FF2-2019
